Scholar Search Engines

I selected this set of search engines followed discussion with the librarians (ie, experts in information search and retrieval) about the topic and the domains.  This means the selection is influenced by community and reputation as well as expertise. A more systematic analysis of search engine coverage with respect to The Literature would be useful.
